Olivia Keith
Olivia’s work blends seamlessly with the philosophy of Live Canvas. In fact the truth is her work is largely the inspiration behind it and you’ll be hard pushed not to fall in love with it at first sight.
She lives and works from the beautiful village of Breamore, within the now national park of The New Forest in Hampshire.
Olivia Keith is well known for her environmental art projects for Kew Gardens, The National Trust and Natural England. Her commissioned willow structures have graced Blashford Lakes Reserve, several schools and Elizabeth House in Salisbury.
However, it’s her work with large canvases created ‘in the moment’ that you’ll find throughout Live Canvas, as well as many other smaller original drawings and prints.
Olivia describes her vibrant work as a “construction”, each drawing created in real-time during a gig, a music festival, a rehearsal session or even a single song.
She says of her work “I have minimal control over the parameters of the drawing, the composition, time-span nor the actions of people in it. All I do is witness, through drawing, what unfolds around me. The drawing is vulnerable to vagaries; of lights being switched off, the arrival of the night, an influx of figures blocking the view, spillages, interruptions, additions and encouragement from onlookers. Once the event has finished, the drawing is ended; I do no more than add the date, place and spray-fixative. That is not to say that every drawing is as I should like it, but it is as it is.”
You won’t find a more exciting piece of artwork and you don’t need to be an ‘art lover’ to love Olivia’s work, it’s the subject that often captures people’s imagination, whether that be music festivals, folk music, guitars or a particular band, such as LuXula.
Olivia also specialises in commissions, so can come along to your event or gig and create a drawing just for you. She is also one of our most popular wedding artists and has helped make several big days even more memorable with her work.
Olivia is a regular at the Larmer Tree Festival and you’ll find her (and her work) not only in the Artists’ Quarter tent, but if you’re lucky stood right next to you drawing your favourite band.
