The Larmer Tree Festival

One of the most respected and popular independent festivals in the UK, The Larmer Tree Festival is now licensed to hold up to 5000 festival goers, proud to have Jools Holland as one of it’s biggest fans and in 2008 was voted ‘Best Family Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards.

Jools has said of the festival “The Larmer Tree is magical. There’s something about the trees – you can see them growing… the music gets their boogie muscles twitching.”

The music festival itself is largely centred on acoustic folk and world music, but also offers Roots, Blues, Jazz, Americana, Reggae and more to it’s strong line up.

In 2009 the Larmer Tree is joined by the likes of Richard Thompson, Dreadzone,

Jools Holland & his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Imelda May as well as The Legendary DJ Derek.

Your stay at the The Larmer Tree Festival couldn’t be more comfortable with some of the best festival food available, a Secret Garden offering Swedish and Thai massages, reflexology and the cherished free hot showers for all campers.

Music festival organiser James Shepard started the festival 1990 after stumbling across the Larmer Tree Gardens while out jogging. That year The Larmer Tree Festival was a one-day event focused on Jazz and Blues with about 200 attendees.

The festival is now a five-day event licensed for 5,000 people. The organisers state that “numbers are still strictly limited to protect the intimate atmosphere cherished by devotees.”

The Larmer Tree is one of the only music festivals that can confidently say it has a fully chilled atmosphere and is completely child-friendly, all set on a gorgeous site in lovely Victorian pleasure gardens.
